Error: 'Print processor does not exist' when installing Epson Driver

When trying to install a version of the Epson printer driver you may receive this error.

'Print processor does not exist'

Solution:

  1. Open the registry editor (Start > Run > type regedit.exe and press Enter)
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Print Processors\winprint in registry editor.
  3. Check for existence of Driver key. If it does not exist, add new string value named Driver and set it equal to winprint.dll.
  4. Restart the Print Spooler service
  5. Attempt to re-install the Epson printer driver using the same driver setup that was failing.

CAUSE:

The missing registry key defines the DLL file to use as the print processor.
